Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!

Friends and I are going on vacation to the OBX for the whole weekend so I wanted to post this before heading out!

Photo above was taken at Green Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. These are the grave of where Civil War Vets. It's a pretty incredible landmark and if your ever near that area, I would definitely check it out! They have alot of activities for Memorial Weekend too.

Current Project

Cardinal process step 1

Poo

I'm going to OBX with a couple of friends for memorial and I'm really sad that the forecast is showing thunderstorms all weekend… really sucks. We were planning on parasailing too… hopefully it's wrong or at least during the evening.

Another sad situation is that my harddrive lost half a years work from my junior year….
this is currently all I can see at the moment from my files:

But you know, they sorta look cool and intentional with their vivid colors and patterns.
I think this might be leading to something :)

Glow

{captured via my iphone}

Ha! I love this show… I do miss Chowder though. I was really sad to see it go. The animation was soo sweet.
Adventure Time (image above) isn't so bad though. I think it's really funny that the Rainbow Unicorn speaks only korean throughout the show.
Just wanted to share this because of the awesome color palette. :)

Perhaps some more!?

Fall into Spring

Beautiful maple tree in front of my yard. Doesn't it have the feeling of Fall rather than Spring :)

Artist Feature

I fell upon these dolls in the Aussie frankie magazine and gee golly they are adorable...

Seriously. I am head over heels in LOVE with these dolls. Will own the foxes and bunny someday!

A Hoot!

I'm always so negligent posting on this blog… So to help me get started, I'm going to try to feature an inspiration every other day. Hopefully that'll push me to blog more and get me in the groove.

So I've probably stated this a lot and many of my friends already know... I'm OBSESSED with owls. Probably why I follow the blog My Owl Barn, people there are JUST as obsessed (maybe even more than I am). I love how they show all these fantastic art projects from sculptures, paintings, to crafts by different artists. One of their recent features was of these really delightful rocks:

Lets Fly...

Ugh! I've neglected my own passion because of laziness... long story so I'm not going to even start.
I'm trying to get back into the groove by making a vow to myself to create a piece of artwork everyday..
HA I am already a couple of days behind. None the less, I have found my muse and have begun working again!

Still there is no such thing as a perfect plan. Problem? I have reverted back to becoming the working night owl. Sleeping by day and working by night. You're probably thinking... why is that so bad? Well... I do have a 9-5 job so coming into work with only 3-4hr sleep is.. exhausting. Not good being a sour grape at work. Alas.. never ending problems.

Anyway, here's the latest I'm working on. In the spirit of the holidays I've decided to create themed cards for festivities in a persons life. These include: birthdays, holidays, graduation, etc...

This is what I have for my first card. To be completely honest, I was going to make a "It's a Baby Boy!" card because one of my co-workers just had the most adorable baby name Jude and I wanted to make her a card.. but it's starting to look more like a birthday card.. We'll see how it turns out in the end.

detail shot of the bird:

I'll be posting the finished piece soon. (Hopefully..)

hoot

so during my whole out-of-school runt, I was reading one of my favorite Book series, Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs. She inspired this sort of Native American folk style for my owl.

Im still working on the color palette and tweeking some of the awkward lines
but I added some texture and this is what is it so far:

Happy Mothers Day!

I actually made a super simple flash animation card for my mother using Sally :)
